George Clymer inherited his uncle’s business, which suffered as a result of British restrictions on colonial trade.
He was, nevertheless, a patriot who worked hard for independence.
Clymer served in the Pennsylvania legislature and the Continental Congress.
Although he did not speak often at the Philadelphia Convention, his speeches were well planned and effective.
Clymer was elected to the First Congress and later served as a member of the commission that negotiated a treaty the Cherokee and Creek tribes in Georgia.
