Want to bring curricular programing from the Center for Civic Education to your school or district?

The Center offers professional-learning services that can be customized to your school or district’s needs. Our two flagship programs, We the People and Project Citizen, can adapt to any context in the K–12 educational landscape and provide opportunities for authentic experiential learning. The Center has a unique capacity for scholarly training, deep content knowledge, and innovative pedagogical practices to bring civics to life in your schools. We are also uniquely positioned to provide sustained support through our national network of mentor teachers and state coordinators as you implement curriculum. The Center’s  curricular programs are research-backed, inquiry-based and have proven to improve literacy skills and SEL competencies.

Civics that Empowers All Students

We the People: Civics that Empowers All Students (CEAS) is a federally funded project that provides high-quality professional learning through the Center’s flagship curricular program: We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution. CEAS is seeking dedicated social studies educators of grades 4-8 who are passionate about empowering underserved students with enhanced civic skills.

Project Community: Engaging All Students in Media Literacy and Public Policy

Project Community empowers underserved elementary and middle school students for effective and responsible civic engagement using media literacy and the Project Citizen curricular program in grades 4–8. Teachers in California and Hawaii are engaged in the Project Community pilot program for the 2024-2025 academic year. The program will then open to more regions the following academic year.

We the People Open Course

This course takes you from the philosophical foundations of the U.S. Constitution through the modern interpretation and application of its ideals. You will find videos of noted scholars explaining key aspects of the Constitution and online exercises to check for understanding. The course follows the We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution Level 3 textbook, which has been used throughout the country to further understanding of our government and its fundamental principles.

Strengthening Democracy in America Series

Strengthening Democracy in America is a collection of free courses featuring video interviews with noted scholars. These courses will deepen your understanding of the American political system and your rights and responsibilities in it. The courses are open to anyone and can be completed at your own pace.
