Lesson Purpose

People living in Britain's American colonies in the 1770s were in many ways quite different from the people living in Europe. The colonists brought British laws and customs to America, but they were developing their own way of life as well.

Lesson Objectives

When you finish this lesson, you should be able to explain how the average person in the American colonies lived in the 1770s, and explain how life in the colonies influenced people's ideas about good government.
