Students and Teacher Share American History & Civics Academies Experiences with School Board

Jeff Scott and his students
Jeff Scott and his students from Dade County High School in Trenton, Georgia explained their experiences at the American History & Civics Academies to the school board recently.
Teacher Jeff Scott and two of his students from Dade County High School in Georgia shared their experiences of the American History & Civics Academies during a recent public Dade County School Board meeting.  Scott participated in high-quality professional development during the two-week summer institute. The students participated in interactive and meaningful civic education instruction. Both Scott and his students engaged in riveting discussions with scholars, mentors, and peers from around the country. They also enjoyed field trips to national historical sites, such as Gettysburg, Mount Vernon, and the U.S. Capitol and Supreme Court. At the school board meeting, Scott and his students spoke about their experiences as participants in the program and the lessons they learned. We hope that this is the first of many community gatherings where participants of the Academies can share their experiences and inspire people to learn more about their history and government.
