Project Citizen: Integrated Civic Competencies
The Project Citizen: Integrated Civic Competencies Program (ICC) enhances the Center’s Project Citizen program by integrating and connecting core civic competencies into public policy content and the six steps of the Project Citizen program. The project’s goal is to increase student civic content knowledge in tandem with competency skills. Teachers engage in immersive professional learning to implement Project Citizen: Integrated Civic Competencies for middle and high school students. This program aims provides more students access to an experiential learning showcase through developing and implementing new curricular and teacher support materials.
Through an Education Innovation and Research Program grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the Center for Civic Education and expert teachers developed new curricular resources to foster positive civic competency outcomes among middle and high school students. We are looking for teachers excited to start the Project Citizen program and implement these innovative and effective lessons.
