country  Usually an area of land where all the people have the same government. Sometimes there might be separate areas of land that all belong to one country. For example, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico are all separate from the main part of the United States. But they all a part of the same country.

earth  Our earth is a planet that revolves around the sun. About 71 percent of the earth is covered with water. The remaining 29 percent is covered with land.

George Washington  George Washington (1732-1799) was the first president of the United States. He was the leader of the American army that finally defeated the British and freed our country from British rule.

state  One of fifty parts of the United States that has its own government. However, their governments are limited by the Constitution and laws made by the national government.
