Robert S. Leming, Director Robert is the national director of the We the People Programs. Prior to joining the Center in 1998, he served as the Indiana We the People state coordinator since 1987. Robert taught middle and high school government and math in Michigan and the U.S. Virgin Islands from 1977–83. He also taught part time in jails and prisons in Michigan, the U.S. Virginia Islands, and Indiana from 1978-1998. He holds three degrees from Indiana University where he taught social studies methods undergraduate and graduate courses. He graduated from General H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1972.

Erin Smith, Assistant Director, We the People Programs Erin Smith co-manages a national network of fifty state civic education programs. Her responsibilities include the 26th Annual We the People National Finals and the National Academy for Civics and Government. Smith returned to the Center in 2012 after a year as program director with the Pablove Foundation, a Los Angeles-based pediatric cancer nonprofit that fundraises for research and support programs for families. Prior to joining the Center in 2009, Smith was an account executive with Leary & Company, Inc. Public Relations in Boston. Erin also served as field organizer for Lawless for Congress, supporting Jennifer Lawless's 2006 candidacy for U.S. Congress (RI-02). She was responsible for volunteer mobilization, targeted voter outreach efforts including the coordination of special events, and community organizing. Smith graduated magna cum laude from the University of Rhode Island, earning her BA in political science.

Washington, D.C. Office

Mark Molli, associate director Mark is an associate director for the Center, and managing director of the Washington D.C. office. He has served as Chief of Staff for Representative Augustus F. Hawkins (D-Los Angeles), supervising overall operations for his Capitol Hill office from 1985–90. From 1977–84, he served as Hawkins's Legislative Assistant and Press Secretary, managing education, foreign affairs, environment, labor, and other issues.
