In Creskill, New Jersey, Creskill High School freshmen have been using Project Citizen to address some of their community's toughest problems. The students began the program during the eighth grade and have continued their involvement in the ninth grade. Projects range from creating an economics curriculum to dealing with low voter turnout. On November 28, four students presented their public policy solution to the Board of Education. The students seek to create an economics curriculum for their school. "I think it's very valuable program because it involves the students becoming actively involved in a modern day problem and engages them in independent learning and research," said Don Bergamini, assistant principal at the Cresskill Middle School/High School.
