Why Civic Education Matters

Our country faces a civics recession, with American students underperforming in a recent test of civics knowledge. But does it really matter that our youngest citizens are informed and engaged? Why Civic Education Matters answers this question with a resounding yes. Essays by Maya Angelou; Rep. Lee Hamilton; Senators Susan Collins, Christopher Dodd, Richard Lugar, and Harry Reid; former Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis, and other notable contributors give a clarion call to action. Together, we can turn this civics recession into a civics revival. Why Civic Education Matters will inspire you to action.
