An Introduction to the Political Philosophy of the Constitution, a 1987 video produced by Center as part of the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution, is now available on YouTube. In the video, Professor Duane Smith speaks about some of the basic ideas underlying the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and Bill of Rights.

Smith addresses three topics: (1) natural rights philosophy, (2) republicanism, and (3) constitutionalism. The video can be used by teachers implementing We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution or by anyone seeking a deeper understanding of American constitutionalism. Smith  was the former associate director of the Center for Civic Education and a professor of political science at the University of California, Los Angeles.
