Constitution in Spotlight for We the People National Finals

After three days of intense testimony on the U.S. Constitution, Lincoln High School of Portland, Oregon, placed first at the 27th Annual We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution National Finals, held April 26-28 at George Mason University in Virginia and on Capitol Hill. Young constitutional scholars from nine middle and high schools participated in the Second Annual We the People National Invitational, held April 4-8 at George Mason University in Virginia. After three riveting days of competition, Brown County Junior High School of Nashville, Indiana, and Floyd Central High School of Floyd’s Knobs, Indiana, each placed first in their respective divisions.

Oregon Champs Host Washington Champs in Portland
Students from Tahoma High School of Covington, Washington, and Lincoln High School, of Portland, Oregon, met in Portland recently in advance of the We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution National Finals.
After a month of planning between Tahoma teacher Gretchen Wulfing and Lincoln teacher Tim Swinehart, the Washington state champion We the People team from Tahoma High School spent the day in Portland, hosted by the Lincoln High School We the People team, the Oregon state champions.
The theme of the day was Fun, Friendship, and Learning. Activities together ranged from coach lectures, getting competition insight from past national judges based in Oregon, paired unit meetings to discuss follow-up questions, and some sightseeing of downtown Portland.

Morocco Hosts International Conference on Education for Democratic Citizenship
