For the past three years, teachers in Los Angeles County, California have adapted the lessons, originally developed by the New Jersey and Senegal partnership to teach their students about the history, culture, and democracies of countries in West Africa. Each year more teachers join the project, more activities are added, and more refinements are made to the lessons. The teachers have developed a website entitled Teaching about Africa in order to share their materials and resources with other educators. The website provides lesson plans and worksheets to teach about the past and present cultural groups in Africa.  Lesson subjects range from language arts to mathematics, art and social studies.
