We the People increases student understanding of the institutions of American constitutional democracy and a reasoned commitment to the fundamental values and principles upon which it is based. The program teaches students in grades 4–12 how our system of government works. Students develop intellectual and participatory skills that increase their capacity to participate competently and responsibly in political life.

The innovative culminating activity, a simulated congressional hearing, provides students with a deep understanding of constitutional values and principles.

Studies of We the People alumni have demonstrated that they are better informed and more politically engaged than their peers. Voting rates are consistently higher among alumni.

We the People has reached more than 30 million students since 1987.
